FEDERAL Environment Minister Peter Garrett has again delayed making a decision on the Jandakot Airport draft master plan.

A representative from the department said the time on the announcement was extended to April 1 for further consultation.

The department had already delayed its decision from February to March this year so Mr Garrett could consult with Transport Minister Anthony Albanese. The Times approached Jandakot Airport Holdings for comment but no responsehad been received before deadline.

The diabolical and reprehensible practice of flying circuits over residential areas has to stop. Community pressure will result in curfews. I look forward to the day when Jandakot's balance sheet reflects their already morally bankrupt status.

Hey Steve, in your dreams, how many 747's fly in and out of Jadakot any time day or night ! It's the Domestic and International airport where they arive and takeoff between 10pm and 2am nearly every night. You can see them on the Perth Airports Live Radar Tracking web site.

Jandakot airport operates both VFR and instrument traffic, during the day, and at night. Ask the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Police Air Wing, the water bombers and the rescue helicopters why this is necessary. Additionally, Jandakot handles the training for many local and international pilots. Ask the huge number of fly in/fly out workers, and anyone who wants to get to Sydney, Darwin, Meekatharra, Timbuktu why this is necessary.
The "heavy" aircraft coming in at night are generally the Flying Doctor's aircraft. Ask the person with a crushed leg in Leonora whether he/she would prefer to wait for an ambulance to pick them up and take them to Murdoch hospital.
In fact, the larger multi engined KingAir aircraft being operated by the RFDS are being sold off, in favour of the single engined PC-12.
There are strict measures in place to limit aircraft noise for those people who decided (without a gun to their heads) to move next to an airport that has been here since the 60s.

I think the minister should read the report at this link.

Still looking for the operating restrictions on Jandacot Airport and when the visual flight rules restriction was removed. Since Jandacot was listed as a VFR airport I wand to know why there are planes flying all night.

I think it is well past time the "Environment" minister actually made a decision on the placement of the airport. Seeing as how it is contaminating the ground water with Runoff.
Also getting sick of heavy planes coming over later and later at night. I dont recall any mention of heavy comercial planes operating out of this airport when it was put out for public discussion in the planning stages yet the planes are getting larger and noisier all the time.
Maybe we just have to find out where the owner of Jandacot airport lives and charter a 747 to fly over his house every night at midnight for a month and see how he likes it.
