A BALLAJURA resident was recently recognised for her contribution to volunteer work.

June Retallack was presented with a Community Service award in Ballajura by Minister for Ageing Justine Elliot and Western Australian Senator Louise Pratt.

Member for West Swan Rita Saffioti nominated Mrs Retallack for the award which recognises individuals or organisation that provide outstanding service to older Australians.

Mrs Retallack was a founding member of the Ballajura Senior Citizen’s in 1991, is currently the secretary and has served as vice-president for three years.

Through the club she participated in carpet bowls and represented the club at many competitions.

Mrs Retallack is the President of the Swan Trefoil Guild as well as having served on several community committees involving seniors.

She said she was “very astounded” to be presented with the award and said she got a lot out of volunteering.

“I find pleasure in seeing what people are able to achieve,” she said.
