NEW, old and exchangeable books are up for grabs with a side of coffee at a new Mount Hawthorn bookstore.

Chapter & Page, owned and operated by former accountant Roberta Elsholz and her daughter Holly, offers a relaxed atmosphere and an alternative to forking out for new books – making reading an affordable pastime.

“Our idea is that our customers can resell their books once read, so they have a longer, more sustainable lifespan,” Ms Elsholz said.

“So we are trying to cater for two different markets and we are hoping that our new books come back into the second hand market. If they bring the new books back, then we give people a better price.”

She said her passion for reading and travelling was reflected in the shop’s decor and encouraged entering a “different world” when peeling back a book cover.

“We want to make Chapter & Page a welcoming place. We’ve set up a coffee bar which also does tea, chai latte and hot chocolate, so our customers can visit the store to relax and enjoy our reading material,” she said.

Chapter & Page, inside The Mezz, sports a wide variety of book genres, including children, teen, fiction, travel and sport.
