TAKE the intense early recordings of the legendary Muddy Waters, mix it with the hypnotic riffs of Howling Wolf and add a layer of the quirky interpretations of Ry Cooder, and somewhere in between blues fans will find Tin Dog.

The popular WA six-piece have made a career out of bringing the blues to a generation of new fans and shining a new light on this whiskey-soaked musical tradition.

Next week, they will bring their distinctive sound to the Rockingham foreshore as one of the headline acts at the Blues Alive Festival.

“Tin Dog’s larrikin stage presence, irreverent interpretations and musical expertise make for a unique and entertaining live experience,” festival spokeswoman Fiona Read said.

Joining Tin Dog in the line-up are blues diva KNiki, WA’s first all- female blues band Sister Mojo, Loaded Denim and east coast artist Mike Elrington.

The Blues Alive Festival starts at 10am on Sunday, March 14, at Churchill Park.

It is a free event run by the West Coast Blues Club.
